Hi Helix Centre, it’s Nabila!
I appreciate you wanting to get to know me. Let me share with you a little bit about myself, why I think we’d work well together, and how I can contribute to your team as a Design Associate.
When I was 17, I wanted to teach biology.
I believed that nothing was more important than exploring our world and educating people about it.
Though I didn’t end up studying in a lab coat, I realised that what I actually wanted to do was transform big ideas into journeys that can enrich people’s lives.
That has kept me driven thus far. Whether I’m working to translate complex jargon about the energy transition, taking clients along my design-thinking process, or translating user data into journeys and flows - the nuances of design and storytelling excites me!
How I work
I use design-thinking.
User research keeps me focused. The iterative method keeps me humble and determined. Perfection is a myth; my goal is to deliver better products.
I am explorative.
Give me user insights and I’m like a kid in a candy store. I enjoy learning surprising things about people. It challenges me to define unexpected opportunities.
I am collaborative.
As a former clarinetist in a band, I crave creative camaraderie. I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with my teammates, trusting that we can all contribute something valuable to the table.
My skills
As an ambitious career switcher, I get to leverage the skills I’ve gained from wearing several hats at Erasmus University Rotterdam (as Communication Specialist, Graduate Programme Manager and, most recently, Marketing Executive).
Content strategy
I built robust information architecture and optimised interaction design to store and categorise 80k digital assets.
Communication design
I transformed several complex discussions about renewable energy into unintimidating printed collateral, news articles, and digital content.
User research
I conducted market and user research to inform marketing and branding decisions. Methods include focus groups, interviews, and subject matter expert interviews, A/B tests, and surveys.
Making learning fun
I helped design the RSM Escape Room, setting learning goals and participating in tests. I also coordinated learning experiences and activities to enrich RSM’s graduate programmes.
My UX case studies
Check out my UX passion projects and client work where I define opportunities, optimise content strategy, test interaction design details, and iterate solutions to deliver minimum lovable products.
Writeboard app
Bringing back the value of handwriting into the live online classroom in an accessible way for students and teachers alike.
Netflix Hangout
Designing a virtual group watching experience on Netflix that elevates excitement and interactivity with your loved ones, no matter the distance.
The Curl Code
Crafting a beauty e-commerce site designed to guide customers to use the best products and methods to help them feel their best (Dutch).
My writing samples
